Who to Get Golf Lessons From
Posted by wildinggolf in golf lessons on August 7, 2011
Golf is a sport. It’s also a hobby, a form of exercise and for some it’s a way of life. Some people start playing when they’re young; often taught by their father or another relative. Other budding golfers start later in life and teach themselves (with tips from the internet), are taught by a friend or colleague, or pay for professional instruction. It is not a cheap activity; equipment, clothing, course fees and logistics all involve considerable investment. Therefore, it makes sense to invest proportionally in golf lessons. It isn’t necessary to have your instructor hold your hand for every shot, every time you play, but a good guiding hand from the start will set you on the right path.
Many are taught by a relative, often one’s father, but unless that father is an experienced instructor and faultless professional, mistakes will be missed and bad habits will be taught. To start on the right foot and get the best possible instruction golf lessons with a pro are essential. They are often less expensive than expected, but offer all kinds of benefits. An eye for mistakes and experienced and practiced teaching methods are most important. In addition, technology has evolved and now allows them to use high-shutter-speed video images to analyze swing movement. Better golf is only achieved by better instruction. Imagine a good golfer, but a bad teacher. He or she will be able to perform the activity themselves but probably not proficient in noticing a student’s mistakes and teaching them calmly and effectively. In fact, it would probably be more desirable to learn from a very good golfer who is an excellent teacher than an excellent golfer who is an average teacher. Compare it to language. A linguistic expert who cannot easily and effectively communicate with his or her students will achieve very little. However, a teacher whose own language skills are good, but not the best, but has excellent methods and communication skills will be far more successful.
In addition, a little preparation is always a good thing. Last minute golf lessons can sometimes be effective, but for the sake of the teacher, and his or her ability to be prepared for the lesson, some advance planning is necessary. If he or she is hungry, tired or pre-occupied, your lesson may not be as beneficial.
It is unfair to say that learning golf from a relative, friend or colleague is unacceptable. However, their own ability and teaching skills will be immediately evident in the student’s swing and posture. The best results come from the best instruction and the best instruction comes from the best instructors.
Bangkok Golf Centres

Life in any capital city is stressful enough. Different people have different ways of relieving their stress. Some drink, some do exercise, others get out of town as often as possible. However, for those people who have golf as a hobby or addiction, there is no alternative to playing their favourite game. The problem with golf, though, is to play it properly and enjoy it you need to be out in the country in hundreds of acres of green land. Driving ranges are not good enough. They are hot and noisy and only really allow the practice of a few skills. There is no perfect replacement for a proper round of golf. So, if the only option is a real game, one needs to actually go to a course. More problems arise here due to logistics and cost. Going to the same course time and time again is not ideal. Being a member of multiple courses is expensive and would involve lots of travelling. And finally, in hotter climates, such as Thailand, being outside for several hours is extremely unpleasant. For the country’s most uncomfortable weather Bangkok is the place to be! So, a possible solution is to try one of the several Bangkok golf centres situated around the city. The best ones offer comfortably air-conditioned rooms with experienced and professional instructors. With the latest technology for their simulators and convenient locations, it’s just like playing a real round of golf. And you can pop out during your lunch break for some practice or a lesson.
Admittedly, it is not real golf. It is the air-conditioned comfort of a golf centre, but it’s a lot better than any other option within the city. In neighbouring towns, such as Hua Hin and Pattaya golf is a much bigger part of many people’s lives, simply because there is the space to have proper courses and clubs. Pattaya is east of Bangkok and a popular destination for tourists, expatriates and locals. There is a lot to do in Pattaya, but also a seedy part of the town. Hua Hin is a similar distance from Bangkok but to the west. It is more popular with families and foreign retirees who want a slightly quieter life. In fact in Hua Hin golf is a big part of life, tourism and the income of the local community. Many houses are condominiums almost depend on it. There are many in Thailand who say that for a good round of golf Hua Hin is among the best in Asia. But for those people who are stuck in the capital and want to play golf Bangkok still has something to offer. Get yourselves down to one of the several simulator and instructor centres to get your fix.

Posted by wildinggolf in Uncategorized on November 3, 2010
MAUMEE, OHIO — aboutGolf, the world leader in indoor golf simulator technology, is playing a key role in the success of a number of Asia’s top Junior golfers thanks to its aboutGolf Simulators, the company announced today.
When she’s not on the outdoor course, Thailand’s Suchaya (Cherry) Tangkamolpraser uses the aboutGolf Simulator at Bangkok-based Wilding Golf Performance Center, where she is coached by Shane Wilding, founder and head professional at Wilding Golf. The 14-year-old was awarded The Most Improved Junior Golfer of the Year from True Visions, a major Junior golf sponsor in Thailand. Tangkamolpraser also won several major Junior tournaments in Thailand, Asia and the United States, including the Callaway World Junior Championship (girls’ Class B 13-14 age category) in San Diego.
Like Tangkamolpraser, fellow Junior standouts Korntawat (Bright) Julamool, Chayanid (Jan) Prapassarangkul and Kesaree (Pearl) Rojanapeansatith have also achieved great success since working on Wilding Golf’s aboutGolf Simulators, once again proving how the aboutGolf Simulator can improve the way golfers—and golf teams—prepare for competition.
“The aboutGolf Simulator has a proven record of improving the performance of golfers around the globe, including here at Wilding Golf in Thailand,” says Wilding, an Australian golf coach with extensive amateur and professional (including PGA TOUR stars Curtis Strange, Ben Crenshaw, Tom Kite, David Eger, Graham Marsh and Stewart Ginn) teaching experience in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the United States. “aboutGolf technology helped these Junior golfers reach a world-class level of performance and, as an instructor, it is exciting to have aboutGolf’s incredible technology enhancing my teaching philosophies. The accuracy of the aboutGolf system is absolutely mind-boggling.”
Wilding’s students rely on aboutGolf Simulators to deliver the ultimate blend of accurate trajectory physics, precise ball and club tracking, great graphics, meticulously reproduced courses and great game-play. With two modes available on the simulator, Wilding and his team of 20 multi-lingual teaching professionals can give lessons “on the range” to develop a golfer’s swing or “on the course” for playing lessons that teach club selection and course management.
Wilding’s Junior students have been quick studies as to reaping the benefits of working with the aboutGolf Simulators. Julamool, coached by Wilding Golf since 2008, has enhanced his reputation as one of Thailand’s most-gifted young golfers by winning more than 18 tournaments, and finishing among the top-3 in 15 other events throughout Thailand, Asia and the United States. Julamool finished third in the 2009 Callaway World Junior and first in the TGA-CAT Junior Golf Rankings 2008-2009 (13-14 age group).
Prapassarangkul, just 14, is another exciting Thailand prospect. She won a number of major Junior golf tournaments throughout Thailand and Asia in 2009, including a victory in the European/US Kids Golf Championships.
During the last two years training with Wilding Golf, Rojanapeansatith has earned the No. 1 Junior ranking in her age group on the Thai Junior Golf Circuit. Pearl has confirmed her reputation as one of Thailand’s top Juniors by winning tournaments throughout Asia, as well as the 2009 TaylorMade World Junior Championship in the United States.
“We’re obviously thrilled when we hear what golfers can achieve by working with the aboutGolf Simulator in conjunction with a world-renowned instructor such as Shane Wilding,” says Chuck Faust, President and COO of aboutGolf. “These success stories are just the tip of the iceberg. Our technology will continue to evolve, and further drive game improvement.”
